Nearby Attractions

There are plenty of natural attractions and archaeological and historical spots nearby Costa Paradiso.

If you are looking for more beaches we suggest the solitary and stunning location of Tinnari (14 Km) or the thin white sand of Vignola (17 Km) with the beautiful ancient tower. Half an hour drive from Costa heading east there is the quaint village of Santa Teresa di Gallura with its marvelous beaches. From Santa Teresa it is also possible to take the ferry to Bonifacio (30 minute trip).

It is important to pay a visit to Capo Testa, the rocky landscape modeled by wind and sea.

Not far from there you can take the boat to the Parco della Maddalena: a group of small islands with plenty of beautiful beaches and incredible panoramas.

In the other direction you can make a day trip to the renowned beach of Stintino and the Asinara's Island (the name probably originates from the particular species of little white donkeys that can be found only on the island). This island is probably the most pristine spot on Sardinia because it was a penitentiary until 1997 and right after turned into a natural reserve. The access to the island is allowed for a limited number of people per day so it's better to book in advance.

Also the hinterland is rich with beautiful natural resources. Here you can travel through the wild inland on board a steam train (trenino verde), a great experience.

Also by car, the locations to visit are endless. From the Valle della Luna near Aggius that resembles the moon landscape to the Luras area with the beautiful Liscia Lake and the most ancient trees of Europe (3800-4000 years old).

Still in Luras, if you are interested in archeology, you can find several dolmen (typical prehistoric tombs) or a Tomba dei Giganti (Sardinian megalithic gallery graves from the bronze age).

The typical archaeological monuments of Sardinia are the Nuraghes. It's still undetermined the epoch in which the first nuraghes appeared, but some construction materials have been dated as early as 3500 BC. There are more than 8000 nuraghes in Sardinia mainly concentrated in the north-west and south-center. There are several just a few kilometers from Costa Paradiso, but the most important of the area are near Arzachena, Tempio, Perfugas and Castelsardo (just to name a few).

Other interesting monuments are castles (e.g. Castelsardo) or the series of Romanesque Basilicas like the Basilica di Saccargia: one of the most important, dated 1116.

If you are looking to relax or are hungry for culture and discoveries, this is the right place to come.
